What is an ice sculpture or ice luge?

An ice sculpture is a carved centrepiece made from clear ice: a logo, an initial, an animal, a swan or a design built around your theme. Lit from below, it catches the light and becomes a natural focal point on a buffet, bar or entrance table.

An ice luge is a sculpture with a channel carved through it. Drinks are poured in at the top and run down through the ice to chill on the way into the glass. Luges suit drinks receptions, Christmas parties, winter themes and brand launches.

Where it works best

Christmas parties
A frosted centrepiece for the bar.
Winter wonderland
Ice that makes the theme real.
Logo centrepieces
Your brand carved in clear ice.
Seafood and buffet displays
Ice bowls and display pieces.
Weddings
Initials or a swan on the top table.
Drinks receptions
Shots poured through an ice luge.

Tips from our team

1
Check delivery access
Sculptures are heavy and delivered on the day. Tell us about loading, lifts and stairs.
2
Plan for melting
Ice melts slowly in a warm room. A drip tray and a cooler spot away from heaters keep it looking good for longer.
3
Light it from below
An LED base lights the ice beautifully. Some bases need a power point nearby.

Which venues near Alton can host a large event?

On our list, Old Thorns Hotel (up to 500 guests) and Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire (up to 500 guests) can take 400 or more guests. Tell us your venue and numbers and we will plan ice sculptures and ice luges around the space.

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do ice sculptures and ice luges cost in Alton?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Yes. Send us your logo and we will confirm what can be carved for your date.

Who pours the drinks through the luge?

Usually the venue's bar team or a bartender we provide. We agree this with your venue.
