What is an ice sculpture or ice luge?

An ice sculpture is a carved centrepiece made from clear ice: a logo, an initial, an animal, a swan or a design built around your theme. Lit from below, it catches the light and becomes a natural focal point on a buffet, bar or entrance table.

An ice luge is a sculpture with a channel carved through it. Drinks are poured in at the top and run down through the ice to chill on the way into the glass. Luges suit drinks receptions, Christmas parties, winter themes and brand launches.

Where it works best

Weddings

Christmas parties
A frosted centrepiece for the bar.
Seafood and buffet displays
Ice bowls and display pieces.
Logo centrepieces
Your brand carved in clear ice.
Winter wonderland

Drinks receptions

Tips from our team

1
Light it from below
An LED base lights the ice beautifully. Some bases need a power point nearby.
2
Check delivery access
Sculptures are heavy and delivered on the day. Tell us about loading, lifts and stairs.
3
Plan for melting
Ice melts slowly in a warm room. A drip tray and a cooler spot away from heaters keep it looking good for longer.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Hugh Town have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do ice sculptures and ice luges cost in Hugh Town?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Hugh Town is 174 miles south-west of Cardiff. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Hugh Town do you cover?

All of TR21 and TR24, including Isles of Scilly, Old Town, Maypole, New Grimsby, Old Grimsby and Dolphin Town, plus the rest of Cornwall and nearby Penzance, Helston, Camborne and St Agnes.

How long does an ice sculpture last?

It depends on the room temperature and size. In a typical indoor room a sculpture lasts through an evening, slowly changing as it melts.

Can you carve our logo?

Yes. Send us your logo and we will confirm what can be carved for your date.

Who pours the drinks through the luge?

Usually the venue's bar team or a bartender we provide. We agree this with your venue.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
