What do stilt walkers do at an event?

Stilt walkers are costumed performers on stilts who tower over the crowd, greet guests, pose for photos and bring a sense of theatre to any space. They are one of the easiest ways to make an arrival feel like an event.

They can be styled to almost any theme, from 1920s Gatsby glamour to circus, winter and under-the-sea looks, and they work indoors with enough ceiling height or outdoors on level ground.

Where it works best

Christmas parties
Festive characters that tower over the room.
Themed parties
Gatsby, circus, winter or under-the-sea.
Festivals and fun days
Walkabout performances throughout the day.
Drinks receptions
Roaming and interacting while guests mingle.
Welcome and arrivals
Greeting guests at the door or on the red carpet.
Launches and activations
Pulling a crowd and getting people filming.

Tips from our team

1
Mind the floor
Level, dry, non-slip floors are best. Grass and gravel need checking in advance.
2
Check the ceiling height
Indoors, stilt walkers need generous ceiling height and clear doorways. Tell us the room and we will check.
3
Use them for the photo moment
A stilt walker beside your step-and-repeat or entrance sign makes every photo better.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Ayr have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do stilt walkers cost in Ayr?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Ayr is 32 miles south-west of Glasgow. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Ayr do you cover?

All of KA6, KA7, KA8 and KA9, including Drongan, Joppa, Dalrymple, Dalmellington, Mossblown and Prestwick, plus the rest of Glasgow and nearby Maybole, Troon, Mauchline and Kilwinning.

Can stilt walkers perform indoors?

Yes, with enough ceiling height and clear doorways. We check the venue before confirming.

Can stilt walkers hand out drinks or flyers?

Yes. Many clients use them to hand out drinks, favours or branded items.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
