What can face and body painters do at an event?

Event face painters create quick, eye-catching designs for adults and children: glitter and gems, painted masks, festival looks, mermaid scales and winter frost. Body painters can also paint performers or models in full designs as a living centrepiece.

Face painting works as an interactive station where guests queue for a look, which suits family days, festivals and themed parties. For adult events, glitter bars and quick themed designs are the most popular choice.

Where it works best

Family fun days
Classic face painting for children.
Gatsby nights
Gold glitter and gems for flappers.
Masquerade balls
Painted masks for guests without one.
Festivals
Glitter bars and festival looks.
Under-the-sea themes
Mermaid scales and shimmer.
Brand activations
Logos and colours painted on guests.

Tips from our team

1
Mention skin sensitivities
Painters use cosmetic-grade products. Guests with sensitive skin can ask for a patch test or a lighter design.
2
Give them a station
A table, two chairs, good light and access to water make a proper painting station.
3
Choose quick designs
At busy events, simple designs keep the queue moving so more guests get a look.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Lerwick have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do face and body painters cost in Lerwick?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Lerwick is 299 miles north of Edinburgh. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Lerwick do you cover?

All of ZE1, including Scalloway and Shetland Islands, plus the rest of North Scotland and nearby Brae, Hestingott, Kirkwall and Stromness.

Are the paints safe for skin?

Painters use cosmetic-grade face and body paints designed for skin. Guests with sensitivities can ask the painter on the day.

How many guests can a painter see?

It depends on the designs. Quick glitter looks take a few minutes, detailed designs take longer. We advise on numbers.

Can a painter create a full body paint showpiece?

Yes. A painted performer or model can be prepared before the event as a living centrepiece.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
