What does an event magician do?

Event magicians perform close-up magic, sleight of hand and mind reading for small groups, moving between tables or around a drinks reception. The magic happens in guests' hands, which is why people talk about it for the rest of the night.

Many magicians can also perform a stage or after-dinner set for the whole room. Close-up works brilliantly as an icebreaker at corporate events and weddings, and a stage set gives a dinner a clear focal point.

Where it works best

Drinks receptions
An icebreaker while guests arrive.
Between courses
Table-hopping magic at dinner.
After-dinner shows
A stage set for the whole room.
Weddings
Something for guests during photos.
Networking events
Gets strangers talking to each other.
Trade shows
Draws people onto your stand.

Tips from our team

1
Brief them on your guests
Names, in-jokes or a product can be built into the magic with a little notice.
2
Time it with the catering
Table magic works best between courses, not while plates are going down.
3
Choose close-up or stage
Close-up suits receptions and dinners. A stage set needs a seated audience and good sightlines.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Forres have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do magicians cost in Forres?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Forres is 116 miles north of Edinburgh. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Forres do you cover?

All of IV36, including Kinloss, Moray, Findhorn and Mundole, plus the rest of North Scotland and nearby Nairn, Elgin, Rothes and Fochabers.

What is the difference between close-up and stage magic?

Close-up is performed for small groups at arm's length. Stage magic is a set for the whole room, usually with a microphone.

Can the magician include our brand or product?

Often, yes. Branded cards or a product reveal can be built into the routine with enough notice.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
