What does an event DJ provide?

An event DJ plays music through the night, reading the crowd and building the mood from background music during drinks to a full dance floor later on. Most also handle announcements and work with your running order.

DJs can bring their own sound system and lighting or plug into the venue's setup. They pair brilliantly with live acts such as a saxophonist or violinist, and can theme a set to match your night, from 1920s swing to disco and current chart.

Where it works best

Corporate parties
Music pitched to a mixed crowd.
Themed nights
Sets matched to the era or theme.
Weddings
From the first dance to the last song.
Christmas parties
Floor fillers for the biggest night of the year.
Launches
A soundtrack built around your brand.
DJ with live acts
Sax, violin or percussion over the set.

Tips from our team

1
Agree the timings
Set times, announcements and the last song should all be on the running order.
2
Check the venue system
Some venues have house sound or noise limiters. We confirm what the DJ needs to bring.
3
Share must-plays and do-not-plays
A short list helps the DJ get it right for your crowd.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Truro have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do DJs cost in Truro?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Truro is 117 miles south-west of Cardiff. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Truro do you cover?

All of TR1, TR2, TR3 and TR4, including St Mawes, Probus, Cornwall, Tregony, Grampound Road and Goonhavern, plus the rest of Cornwall and nearby St Agnes, Falmouth, Newquay and Camborne.

Does the DJ bring sound and lights?

Usually, yes, sized to your room. If the venue has a house system, the DJ can plug in instead.

Can we send a playlist?

Yes. Must-plays, requests and songs to avoid all help the DJ plan the night.

Can the DJ make announcements?

Yes. Most DJs handle announcements and can work to your running order.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
