What is an electric violinist?

An electric violinist plays an amplified violin, usually with backing tracks, performing modern covers of pop, dance and rock as well as classical pieces. The sound is big and bright, and the performance is far more energetic than a traditional string player.

Violinists can play a relaxed set for a drinks reception, a high-energy showpiece, or play over the DJ to lift the dance floor. Wireless kit means many can roam the room, and LED or mirror costumes add a visual edge.

Where it works best

Drinks receptions
Modern covers as guests arrive.
Winter themes
Mirror or LED costumes for a frosted look.
Weddings
From the aisle to the first dance.
Launches
A striking live moment for a reveal.
Awards nights
A big entrance for the ceremony.
Violin with DJ
Live violin over the dance floor.

Tips from our team

1
Choose the costume
From smart black to LED and mirrored looks, tell us your theme and we will match it.
2
Brief the DJ
Violin over the DJ works best when they agree the tracks in advance.
3
Check the power
Violinists need a power point and either their own speaker or a feed into your system.

Frequently asked questions

Do venues around Truro have rules for performers?

Many hotels and country houses have rules on ceiling rigging, fire, access times and changing space. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check everything before we confirm.

How much do electric violinists cost in Truro?

There is no fixed price. Every event is different. Prices depend on the acts, the number of performers, timings, travel and location, so we quote each booking individually. Travel is part of the quote, and Truro is 117 miles south-west of Cardiff. Send us your date and venue for free, no-obligation options.

Which postcodes around Truro do you cover?

All of TR1, TR2, TR3 and TR4, including St Mawes, Probus, Cornwall, Tregony, Grampound Road and Goonhavern, plus the rest of Cornwall and nearby St Agnes, Falmouth, Newquay and Camborne.

Can an electric violinist roam?

Yes. Many have wireless kit and can move around the room or dance floor.

Do they bring their own sound system?

Most bring a compact system for receptions. For larger rooms we agree a feed into the venue or DJ system.

Can they play our first dance song?

Usually, yes, with notice. Send us the track and we will check with the performer.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Friday and Saturday dates in December and the summer months go first, often months ahead. Short notice is sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Can the performers match our theme or brand colours?

Usually, yes. Tell us your theme, colours or brand guidelines and we will suggest the costumes and acts that fit best.

Do you work with our venue and event team?

Yes. We agree access, changing space, timings and any venue rules before the day, and work to your run of show.

Still have questions?

Tell us about your event and we'll come back with options.
